Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States (US), saying any expansion of American military strikes could trigger a broader conflict across the Middle East, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

According to Iranian military officials, Tehran will respond with large-scale military action if the US targets critical Iranian infrastructure. The warning came after recent American airstrikes on Iranian military facilities and amid growing concerns over the security situation in the Gulf region.
A statement attributed to the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters said that any attack on Iran’s infrastructure would cross a “red line” and that regional infrastructure currently spared by Iran’s restraint could become legitimate military targets. The spokesperson also stressed that Iran would not tolerate any foreign interference in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the strategic waterway as a non-negotiable national security issue.
The remarks followed comments by US President Donald Trump, who warned that Washington could expand its military campaign if Iran refused to return to negotiations. Trump reportedly said the United States could target Iranian power plants and bridges unless Tehran resumed diplomatic talks.
Amid the growing confrontation, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz held a telephone conversation to discuss the evolving security situation. According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, the two officials reviewed recent US military operations in Iran and agreed to maintain close coordination in response to any further escalation.
The latest exchange of warnings comes after several days of intensified military activity. The United States has launched multiple strikes on Iranian military sites, while Iran has responded by targeting US-linked military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.

The rising hostilities have raised fears of a wider regional conflict, with analysts warning that continued military escalation could threaten energy supplies, disrupt international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and further destabilise the Middle East unless diplomatic efforts succeed in reducing tensions.
