PM Orders Strict Action Against Artificial Fuel Shortages

Published on: July 16, 2026 11:53 PM

Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to take strict action against anyone creating Artificial Fuel Shortages in Pakistan. During a high-level meeting on the economic impact of regional tensions, the prime minister instructed federal and provincial governments to work together to prevent disruptions in the supply of petroleum products.

The meeting was attended by several federal ministers, senior government officials, the Governor of the State Bank, and economic advisers. Participants reviewed the possible effects of rising regional tensions on Pakistan’s economy and discussed measures to ensure economic stability.

Addressing the meeting, the prime minister said that increasing tensions in the region could negatively affect the country’s economic outlook. He urged the nation to adopt a culture of austerity and responsible spending, similar to the public support shown during previous government conservation campaigns.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government has successfully managed the country’s fuel supply and protected ordinary citizens, including motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, and transport operators, from the impact of rising fuel prices through targeted subsidies. He also instructed officials to remain fully prepared for any future challenges and to develop a comprehensive response plan.

Officials informed the meeting that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum reserves to meet national demand and that future fuel supplies have also been secured. The government’s focus on preventing Artificial Fuel Shortages aims to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability and maintain economic stability during a period of regional uncertainty.
