LAHORE: Tech-giants Apple announced partnership with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousufzai’s Malala Fund on Monday to promote girls’ education projects in India and Latin America.
“With Apple’s support, Malala Fund expects to double the number of grants awarded by its Gulmakai Network and extend funding programs to India and Latin America with the initial goal of extending secondary education opportunities to more than 100,000 girls,” Apple said in an official press release.
On occasion, Malala commended the efforts of Apple for providing technology and research related education to girls in underprivileged regions of the world.
“Through both their innovations and philanthropy, Apple has helped educate and empower people around the world. My dream is for every girl to choose her own future,” said the Nobel Laureate.
Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook said that the company shares Malala’s commitment to spread the network of education throughout the world, while also appreciating Malala for her efforts.
“We believe that education is a great equalising force, and we share Malala Fund’s commitment to give every girl an opportunity to go to school,” Cook said.
Last week, the Malala Fund in collaboration with a Sharjah-based charity organisation The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) announced deal to open girls’ school in Swat Valley.
