Published on: February 10, 2018 9:45 PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan held a meeting with senior journalists at Bani Gala residence on Saturday.

During the meeting, former state minister for environment and PTI member Malik Ameen Aslam briefed about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government’s Billion Tree Tsunami project.

Speaking to the meeting attendees, PTI chief said that billion tree project of the PTI-led KP government, which is aimed at reducing global warming, has thus far ensured plantation of 1.16 billion trees throughout the province. He also mentioned that 500,000 people have been provided employment opportunities through the project.

Khan also said that the project, which has been lauded by global environmental organisations, aims to safeguard future generations from the hazards of climate change and that the government’s next step is to spread the project to more cities within the province.

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) administered Punjab government, Khan said that forests in Rajanpur, Chichawatani, Changa Manga and Kundian have been destroyed due to the negligence of the provincial government.

The meeting was also attended by PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry, Director Central Media PTI Iftikhar Durrani and Political Secretary to PTI Chairman, Aown Chaudhry.
