Asim Abbasi granted Best Director award for ‘Cake’ at UK Asian Film Festival

Published on: March 26, 2018 8:06 PM

Asim Abbasi’s upcoming movie, Cake, has gathered plenty of attention after the world premiere held in London. The UK Asian Film Festival had arranged the screening of the movie on 20th March 2018, followed by a question and answers session with the film cast, Sanam Saeed, Amina Sheikh, Adnan Malik, and Abbasi.

Fans are eagerly looking forward to the release of Cake in Pakistan, as nowadays, the majority of films are either romantic or comedies. However, Cake seems surprisingly exceptional. Asim Abbasi bagged the Best Director award at the UK Asian Film Festival. Attika Choudhary, BBC broadcast journalist received the award on his behalf.

Abbasi also expressed his gratitude through his tweet, “Oh wow! So humbled and moved. Thank you @cometoUKAFF for the honour,”

The UK Asian Film Festival offers a distinctive platform for Asians who are enthusiastic about film and media all over the world.

Cake is the first Pakistani movie ever to have a world premiere at Leicester Square, London. Cake presents a deep look at the realities of life, decisions, and outcomes. The film is based on two sisters who are forced to face and deal with their painful past and realise that they can only move forward by finding a way back. The film is going to release in Pakistan on 30th March.
