Deadpool apologizes to David Beckham in Deadpool 2 teaser

Published on: May 11, 2018 5:49 PM

On Thursday, Ryan Reynolds shared a video of Deadpool apologizing to David Beckham for a joke in the 2016 film.

Little known fact: Canadians are born with a black belt in apology. #deadpool2 pic.twitter.com/CLxPq34PXO

In a new marketing spot for Deadpool 2, the character expresses some unsettled regret for a cheap shot at the sports celebrity, David Beckham. In the first film, Deadpool made fun of soccer star and has made an attempt to make it up to him.

He starts his apology expedition by texting Beckham “I’m sorry. Forgive me”, but Beckham does not buy it. He soon gets a knock at the door, which turns out to be Deadpool holding a plate of cookies and a glass of milk, saying “I’m so sorry.” Beckham slams the door in his face, however, Deadpool has other ideas.

Another knock at the door discloses Deadpool holding quite a few red balloons, saying “too soon?” in a helium- voice. Again Beckham slams the door in his face.

Still not discouraged, a third knock discloses Deadpool encircled by mariachi singers, but that only gets him another slamming of door in the face. He then knocks again, but this time Deadpool offers Beckham two tickets to 2018 FIFA World Cup “I can’t wait to not watch Italy play the Netherlands.”

Beckham can’t stay mad at Deadpool, but of course Deadpool takes a friendly hug too far. He then questions Deadpool what has he been apologizing for, to which he answers, “The bit in Deadpool with the voice.”

Beckham says, “Doesn’t ring a bell.”

Deadpool then asks, “What do you think I was apologizing for?”

Beckham then brings up a number of Reynold’s previous films, including “Green Lantern”, “RIPD”, “Selfless”, “Blade Trinity”, and “Boltneck”, but it’s only that last one that gets Deadpool distressed, “Boltneck was a masterpiece!”

Beckham slams the door again, and Deadpool finds himself apologizing again. The two are seen sitting on a couch together, so it seems they worked things out.

“Deadpool 2” is scheduled to hit the theaters on May 18th.
