Mithun Chakraborty’s wife and son accused of rape, cheating

Published on: July 5, 2018 9:59 AM

After the #MeToo campaign, a number of women have come forward, globally, and shared their horrific incidents of sexual harassment. Earlier, Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of behaving inappropriately with women. Not only is this limited to Hollywood, but Bollywood has had its fair share of harassment cases as well.

Recently, Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mahaakshay Chakraborty, has been accused of rape and cheating. An FIR was lodged against Mithun’s son and his wife, Yogita Bali, reported NDTV.

There was ample amount of proof against both Mahaakshay and Yogita, which is why an FIR was registered against them, said Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Esha Gauba.

A woman, who requested anonymity, came forward to lodge an FIR against the mother-son duo. She said that Mithun’s son had promised to marry her, but instead, he cheated on her and raped her. She further added that when she told him about his pregnancy, Mahaakshay gave her medicines which led to an abortion.

The woman further shared that she was threatened by Mahaakshay’s mother, of dire consequences, and was asked to give up on the relationship with her son. She added that she moved to Delhi from Mumbai, because she wasn’t feeling safe.

Taking the woman’s complaints seriously, an FIR was lodged; however, the police is still carrying investigations into the matter, since the case involves the family of a high-profile name. The court further added that it is necessary to register an FIR for all rape cases, whether it’s against a common man or a celebrity.
