Joaquin Phoenix confirmed to star in The Joker origin movie

Published on: July 11, 2018 2:25 PM

Reportedly, Joaquin Phoenix’s role in the Joker origin movie has been confirmed. Its production will begin in New York in September.

The project was in the works for almost a year. Initially Martin Scorsese was one of the producers. However, now Warner Bros. have chosen Joaquin Phoenix to star as the famous criminal, the Joker.

The movie will be directed by the co-script writer of the movie, Todd Phillips. Batman’s arch nemesis The Joker formerly has been played by Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson and Jared Leto.

The movie is estimated to have a budget of $55 million, which is quite less than what other Warner Bros. superhero movies have cost to produce.

Reports of Phillips’ Joker origin movie arose in 2017, when it was portrayed as a rough and grounded cynical crime film in the 1980s Gotham City. Produced by Scorsese, and written by Phillips and Scott Silver

There is no official release date yet for The Joker origin film.
