Police arrest Mastung attacker’s brother, father

KARACHI: Police on Friday claimed they have arrested the brother and father of the culprit behind deadly Mastung attack which claimed the lives of 149 people including Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Nawab Siraj Raisani.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) SSP Pervaiz Chandio told media persons that the duo was arrested in a raid conducted by the CTD in Karachi’s Banaras area.

It is to be mentioned here that the terrorist organisation Da’aish had claimed the responsibility for the Mastung attack. The suicide bomber, identified as Hafiz Nawaz, was the part of Da’aish and also affiliated with the banned outfit ‘Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’.

“The relatives of the suicide bomber went underground since the incident and were planning to flee to Afghanistan along with other family members,” said the SSP.

He said that two other facilitators, identified as Shiraz and Wali Ahmed, were also arrested in the raid, adding that the duo got training in Afghanistan.
