Aishwarya and I are looking forward to Gulab Jamun: Abhishek Bachchan

Published on: September 2, 2018 12:42 PM

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan opened up about taking a two year break from acting and returning to the silver screen with his new film, “Manmarziyaan”, acting along Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, and collaborating with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in “Gulab Jamun”.

In an interview  Abhishek talked about his career and the break he took and what the future looks like.

While discussing why he decided to take a break from acting, Abhishek said it was a conscious decision. He wanted to observe choices he had made and scrutinize the quality of work he had been doing. He called it a procedure of “revaluation, reassessment” and taking stock of his “strengths and weaknesses”. It was then that he decided on the kind of work he really wanted to do. He added that he won’t make the mistakes he made in the past but also said that he wouldn’t “shy away from making new mistakes”.

On the question about how he ended up doing “Manmarziyaan”, he answered that he had known the film’s producer Aanand L Rai, for several years. When Abhishek was asked if he would like to do a film with him, Abhishek was eager to. As soon as he heard the story of the film, Abhishek knew he wanted to do the film. It was much later that he found out that Anurag Kashyap would be directing it and admitted that, knowing Anurag’s work, he got even more excited.

Sharing his experience of working with Anurag, Abhishek said, he was impressed the way the director uses silences in his films. Opposing to Anurag’s reputation as a producer of dark films, “Manmarziyaan”, is a “light, happy film”.

Abhisek Bachan will be working in another production of Anurag’s called, “Gulab Jamun”, be paired with his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He also shared how working with his wife was always special. “Gulab Jamun is a sweet film and it’s always a pleasure to work with the missus. Every time we’ve done a film together, it’s been special.”

Abhishek also shared that before working on “Gulab Jamun” he will be doing another film. Nonetheless, he said he couldn’t reveal much.
