Hina Butt slams Asad Umar over petrol price hike

Published on: April 2, 2019 2:11 AM

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Hina Pervez Butt, on Monday, demanded the resignation of Federal Finance Minister, Asad Umar, in Punjab Assembly, over his “failed policies.”

The resolution slammed the government for its unsuccessful policies regarding prices of petroleum and therefore, asked the finance minister to stand down from his office.

The government’s recently-announced decision to skyrocket fuel prices for the month of April has caused an uproar from all quarters. Opposition parties are strongly criticising the move; demanding the government to withdraw the price hike.

Earlier, the government had announced increases of Rs 6 per litre in the prices of increased petrol and diesel to Rs 98.88/litre and Rs 117.43 per litre, respectively, on Sunday.

Meanwhile, prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) were raised by three rupees per litre. Kerosene price has been increased from Rs 86.31 to Rs 89.31 per litre while the LDO price has been jacked up from earlier Rs 77.53 to Rs 80.53 per litre.
