Fabinho to keep on shining for Liverpool

Published on: January 29, 2019 12:43 AM

The Merseyside club has enjoyed a successful campaign so far, which sees them league leaders and favourites to win. Though this has been well publicized, recognition for Fabinho’s brilliance has been scarce, to say the least. Occupying the key pivot role, his impressive showings of recent definitely warrant some positive publicity. While he’s long been touted as a talent, in a Liverpool team slightly weaker in the centre of the park, his ability to protect the defence along with his passing range has seen him dominate teams while dictating the play. Fabinho, as a midfielder, has a duty not only to defend but also to attack. Having contributed 2 assists and a goal, it has never been more clear that he’s not only influential defensively, but also in an offensive sense as well. But his main strength lies in being able to transition the ball from defence to attack with ease, a rare ability saved for only the best. Despite producing a slither under 2 long passes-a-game, he remains very consistent with a high success rate of 84 percent. Premier League greats such as Steven Gerrard, Jermaine Jenas and Michael Carrick have all often achieved worse passing rates, which exemplifies Fabinho’s glaring dominance. All in all, it’s a matter of time before Fabinho receives the plaudits he deserves for his phenomenal showings of late.
