The groundbreaking of the Dam was expected to happen in January but due to the busy schedule of the Prime Minister, it was postponed.

According to the reports, Mohmand Dam will have a capacity to store 300,000 cusecs of water and it is a flood control dam.

The dam has a gross capacity of 1.9 million acre-feet (MAF), live capacity 0.67 MAF with power generation potential of 800 megawatts (MW) and annual energy production of 2862 GWh.

The cost of the project swelled from $1 billion in 2003 to $3 billion because of the undue delay during Musharraf regime.
