Govt to exploit furniture sector to boost exports: PM Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said the government will fully exploit the export potential of Pak handmade classical furniture to boost the export of the country besides patronizing this sector to capture share in international furniture markets. He expressed these views while talking to Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq who also holds the office of Chairman Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company at federal capital.

Prime Minister said Pakistan is blessed with artisans, craftsmen and host of other skilled force to produce best handmade furniture in the world and it has a huge demand in global market. He further said Pakistan was moving forward in a better position to attract international investment and it was highly praiseworthy that PFC was utilizing full available force to create opportunities for foreign investment in the country by creating business-to-business contacts with foreign furniture producers.

He said that our young entrepreneurs are a great asset and future of Pakistan and they should focus on promoting Pakistani brands in foreign countries. He said they should visit foreign countries with proper homework on target countries and products so that they could achieve meaningful results.Prime Minister Imran Khan also congratulated Mian Kashif Ashfaq for taking charge of mega project of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).

He also assured him of all the government support for materializing the vision of FIEDMC to boost the economic activities in the country. He expressed his confidence that under Kashif’s dynamic leadership and able guidance the working and performance of the FIEDMC would be further accelerated.

Mian Kashif Ashfaq thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan on this occasion for giving him task as Chairman FIEDMC and assured him that with his support, vision and guidance, he would utilize his energy to revitalize the sick industry in Pakistan. He said that FIEDMC would take measures to address issues of business community and investors for creating conducive environment for trade and investment in the province.

He also assured Prime Minister that the business community of the country would extend its full support to the government towards implementing its reform agenda and overcoming the current economic challenges.

Advisor to Prime Minister Naeem Ul Haq, PM spokesman Afzal Chan,Central Vice President PTI, Chaudhary Ashfaq and MNA Asim Nazir were also present on the occasion.
