Trump doubles down: ‘Iran must never have nukes’ amid escalating Israel conflict

Published on: June 17, 2025 9:30 PM

Donald Trump has once again made it clear that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. The White House shared past clips of Trump repeating this statement, showing he has stayed consistent. Trump also said he wants a “real end” to Iran’s nuclear problem and may send top officials to meet Iranian leaders. This statement came while the Israel-Iran air war entered its fifth day.

Trump warned that Israel is not slowing its attacks on Iran. He told reporters that more developments would come in the next two days. He also urged Tehran residents to evacuate immediately. Despite the conflict, Trump says he still hopes for a new nuclear deal with Iran. However, Iran denies it wants nuclear weapons and claims its program is peaceful.

Meanwhile, deadly attacks continue. Iran reported explosions in Tehran and other cities due to Israeli airstrikes. At least three people died in Kashan, and over 20 were killed in Lorestan. Israel confirmed it targeted Iranian military sites and claimed to have killed a top Iranian commander. The UN atomic agency said Israel’s strikes hit underground nuclear sites in Natanz.

French President Emmanuel Macron claimed the U.S. offered a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran. But Trump quickly denied this on Truth Social. He criticized Macron and said his early departure from the G7 summit had nothing to do with any ceasefire. Trump stated the situation was “much bigger” than what Macron suggested. The French embassy gave no response.

China accused Trump of worsening the conflict by making threats. Chinese officials said his actions added fuel to the fire. President Xi Jinping called for peace and urged all sides to calm the situation. As both Iran and Israel exchange deadly strikes, the world watches closely. Over 220 Iranians and 24 Israelis have reportedly died in recent attacks.
