Pakistan, UAE push for peace as Israel-Iran conflict escalates

Published on: June 17, 2025 10:25 PM

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have urged all sides to show restraint as the Israel-Iran conflict intensifies. This call came during a high-level phone conversation on Tuesday. The two allies warned that further escalation could harm the entire region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received the call from UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They discussed the fast-changing situation in the Middle East, especially after Israel’s recent missile attacks on Iran. Both sides agreed that the rising violence poses serious dangers.

The two foreign ministers expressed strong concern about growing instability. They emphasized that diplomacy must replace aggression. They also agreed that regional and global efforts should aim to reduce tensions and protect civilians from further harm.

Meanwhile, China also raised its voice, criticizing U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks. Trump had warned people in Tehran to “immediately evacuate.” China said such comments only increase panic and add fuel to the fire. It called for all influential nations to help calm the situation.

The crisis began when Israel launched sudden airstrikes on several Iranian cities last week. Israel claimed it was acting to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Iran denied the accusation, saying its nuclear program is peaceful and within international law.
