Pakistan, Iran strengthen ties at Geneva meet

GENEVA: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met his Iranian counterpart Dr. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers in Geneva. During the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations and enhance cooperation between the two nations.

Dr. Qalibaf thanked Pakistan for its support against Israeli aggression on Iran, acknowledging the solidarity shown by the Pakistani Parliament and people. He emphasized the importance of the longstanding brotherly relations between Iran and Pakistan, adding that the Iranian people deeply value this support.

Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm backing of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that lasting peace in the Middle East is essential for regional development and prosperity. He condemned Israeli attacks on Iran as clear violations of international law and reiterated Pakistan’s call for resolving global disputes through dialogue.

He further stated that Pakistan supports a peaceful and negotiated solution to Iran’s nuclear program. He also highlighted that Pakistan’s Parliament unanimously passed resolutions condemning Israeli aggression on Iran.

In response, Dr. Qalibaf praised the strength of Iran-Pakistan ties and expressed his commitment to deepening bilateral engagement. He said the Iranian government and people hold Pakistan’s friendship and parliamentary support in high regard and will always remember it.
