Terrorists were given space in KP under a deliberate plan: DG ISPR

Published on: October 10, 2025 3:18 PM

In a strong statement from Peshawar, the Pakistan Army has revealed shocking details about the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Director General ISPR, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said terrorists and their helpers were given space deliberately. He said this was part of a planned move that weakened governance and public services in the province. As a result, the brave people of KP continue to suffer and sacrifice their lives. The Army paid tribute to their courage and promised continued support in the fight against terrorism.

While speaking at Corps Headquarters Peshawar, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif explained the purpose of the press conference. He said it was to review the current security situation and share facts with the public. He stated that the Army remains fully committed to eliminating terrorism from its roots. He also highlighted the importance of unity between the Army and the people. According to him, the cooperation between security forces and citizens is key to restoring peace in KP.

The DG ISPR shared fresh data on counterterrorism operations from 2024 and 2025. He said more than 24,000 intelligence-based operations were carried out in two years. These operations killed over 1,600 terrorists. Sadly, more than 1,000 lives were lost during this period, including soldiers, police, and civilians. He added that many foreign terrorists were also killed, most of them Afghan nationals. This marks the highest number of foreign terrorists eliminated in a single year in the past decade.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif also identified five main reasons why terrorism still exists. First, the National Action Plan has not been fully followed. Second, some political groups have used terrorism for their own agendas. Third, India is using Afghan soil to support terrorism in Pakistan. Fourth, terrorists in Afghanistan are receiving weapons and shelter. Fifth, some local and political groups are protecting criminal and terrorist networks. He warned that these factors are feeding violence and must be addressed quickly.

In conclusion, the Army spokesperson said the situation needs honest discussion and national unity. He stressed that blaming each other will not help. Instead, strong governance, political will, and public cooperation are required. He assured the people of KP that the Pakistan Army stands with them. Together, they will defeat terrorism and bring peace back to the region.
