Two trains crash in Slovakia injuring multiple passengers
BRATISLAVA – Two trains collided on Sunday evening in Slovakia after one ran into the back of the other, injuring dozens of passengers, officials reported. Slovakia’s Interior Minister, Matus Sutaj Estok, said that 11 people were taken to hospitals while most sustained minor injuries. No fatalities were reported.

The crash occurred on the route between the capital, Bratislava, and Pezinok, about 20 kilometers northeast of the city. Police confirmed that there was no head-on collision or derailment, with preliminary reports suggesting a rear-end impact. Passengers described the incident as a loud “bang” when the trains collided.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which marks the second major train collision in Slovakia in less than a month. On October 13, two trains collided in eastern Slovakia, injuring 91 passengers.

The Interior Minister visited the scene, briefing the media on the response efforts and assuring that safety protocols were being reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future. Emergency services quickly attended to the injured, and normal train services were temporarily disrupted along the corridor.
