ISLAMABAD – The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army personnel to ensure security during the upcoming by-elections scheduled across multiple constituencies. According to an official notification, troops will serve as a reserve force from November 22 to 24.
By-elections will take place on November 23 for six National Assembly seats, including NA-18 Haripur, NA-96 and NA-104 Faisalabad, NA-129 Lahore, NA-143 Sargodha, and NA-185 Dera Ghazi Khan. In addition, seven Provincial Assembly constituencies across Punjab will also hold elections.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a formal notification and sent copies to the concerned authorities, coordinating with the Election Commission to ensure a smooth electoral process. Election preparations have been completed, with ballot papers and other polling materials scheduled to be delivered to polling stations on the morning of the vote.
The election campaign for all 13 constituencies concludes tonight, ahead of polling. The deployment of army personnel is intended to maintain order and act as a backup to local law enforcement, ensuring peaceful and fair elections.
Officials emphasized that the military will function as a reserve force only, supporting the Election Commission and police while voters exercise their democratic right.
