Ukrainian drone strike kills two in Russia’s Saratov

Published on: December 13, 2025 5:30 PM

Two people were killed and several others injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on a residential building in Saratov. The attack occurred overnight, regional governor Roman Busargin said Saturday. Authorities confirmed the strike caused damage to multiple structures in the city.

Saratov lies on the Volga River, about 625 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The city has been targeted repeatedly in recent years by drones attacking its oil refinery and nearby airbase. Local residents remain concerned about further attacks as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue.

The Russian Defence Ministry reported it intercepted 41 drones overnight, including 28 over the Saratov region. The ministry emphasized ongoing vigilance to prevent casualties and property damage from such attacks.

The strike comes amid heightened Ukrainian drone activity across Russian regions. Analysts say these attacks aim to disrupt military infrastructure and demonstrate Ukraine’s growing aerial capabilities. Security forces have increased patrols and safety measures to protect civilians.

Authorities are investigating the full extent of casualties and structural damage. Residents have been urged to stay alert, while emergency services continue rescue and relief operations in the affected area.
