The actor explained that he initially struggled to figure out how to pay tribute to Williams, whose iconic role in the original 1995 Jumanji film made him a key part of the franchise’s legacy. Johnson said, “It was my idea to honor him in some way, and I didn’t know how to do it.” He later received a suggestion from the film’s costume designer, L.J. Shannon, who proposed using the original dice from the first Jumanji movie as a tribute.

Johnson embraced the idea, wearing the iconic dice as a necklace throughout the film. This subtle yet powerful gesture served as a meaningful Easter egg for fans of the series. In a behind-the-scenes Instagram video, Johnson explained that the tribute was meant to honor Williams’ role in the Jumanji franchise and his lasting influence on the films.

Williams starred in the original Jumanji alongside Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, David Alan Grier, and Bonnie Hunt. His portrayal of Alan Parrish has remained a beloved part of movie history. For Johnson, wearing the dice was a way to keep Williams’ memory alive and give fans a heartfelt connection to the past.
