Israel to keep full control over Gaza: Netanyahu

Published on: January 28, 2026 5:45 PM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the creation of a Palestinian state in Gaza, saying Israel will retain full security control. He called claims suggesting otherwise false and reaffirmed his long-standing stance. Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s security interests remain unchanged.

Speaking at a televised press conference, Netanyahu said Israel will maintain control “from the Jordan River to the sea,” explicitly including Gaza. He insisted this policy reflects long-term political and security priorities and will continue under his leadership.

Netanyahu outlined plans to disarm Hamas and demilitarise Gaza, including dismantling weapons stockpiles and underground tunnels. He stated no reconstruction work would occur until these objectives are achieved, emphasizing security comes first.

He warned Hamas that disarmament will happen “the easy way or the hard way” and dismissed proposals for foreign troops, saying no Turkish or Qatari soldiers will enter Gaza. He also aligned his stance with the second phase of the US Gaza plan.

Netanyahu reiterated that neither current nor future governments under his leadership would allow Palestinian statehood in Gaza. He concluded that Israel will continue full control over the territory and surrounding areas.
