Punjab’s culture shines through Basant festivities: Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said Basant is not just a festival but a symbol of collective spirit. She highlighted its cultural significance. She added that public excitement for the festival is extraordinary across the province.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said a control room has been set up for safe celebrations. She emphasized that Basant represents Punjab’s rich heritage. She added that people worldwide watch and admire the festival each year.

The CM said Punjab has a beautiful culture and steps are underway to promote local languages. She stressed introducing children to Punjabi. She compared this with Indian Punjab, where Sikh communities proudly speak their language globally.

Maryam Nawaz criticized past governments for spreading negativity and unrest. She said previous leaders encouraged violence, protests, and disrespect for sacred places. She added that her government focuses on law, order, and promoting civilized culture in Punjab.

She urged citizens to enjoy Basant safely and take special care of children. She warned that stealing or buying manhole covers could lead to ten years imprisonment. She concluded by wishing everyone a joyful and secure festival.
