Tommy Shelby’s return promises power, betrayal and blood

Published on: February 13, 2026 4:14 PM

The Peaky Blinders universe is officially expanding as Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby in a new feature film titled The Immortal Man, scheduled for release in March 2026. Moreover, the project marks a major shift from television to cinema, signaling that the story is being treated as a large-scale event rather than a simple continuation.

Netflix confirmed that the film will first arrive in selected cinemas on March 6, followed by a global streaming release on March 20. Consequently, this dual strategy reflects growing confidence in the franchise’s ability to draw both box office audiences and online viewers at the same time.

The story picks up after the dramatic ending of the sixth season, where Tommy faced political threats, personal losses, and increasing isolation. However, the new film is expected to push him into even darker territory, where power becomes both a weapon and a curse.

A new character played by Barry Keoghan is set to enter the narrative, potentially disrupting the Shelby empire or forming a dangerous alliance. Furthermore, early hints suggest that trust, loyalty, and ambition will once again collide at the heart of the plot.

The creator of the franchise has described the film as a natural evolution of the series, allowing deeper emotional storytelling through a cinematic lens. Ultimately, The Immortal Man aims to deliver a powerful conclusion that reflects the cost of leadership and the price of survival.
