Shia LaBeouf Ordered to Rehab Following New Orleans Arrest

Shia LaBeouf has been ordered by a US court to enter rehabilitation following his arrest during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans last month, as his ongoing legal and personal troubles continue to draw public attention.

The actor was taken into custody on February 17 after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with two men. According to reports by Page Six, LaBeouf also used homophobic slurs during the incident. He now faces three misdemeanor battery charges stemming from the confrontation.

During a recent court hearing, Judge Simone Levine questioned whether the actor was genuinely committed to addressing his alleged alcohol problems. The judge denied LaBeouf’s request to travel to Rome and set his bond at $100,000. As part of the court’s order, he must undergo regular drug testing and enter a rehabilitation programme.

Sources close to the case suggest that the court may allow LaBeouf to complete rehabilitation online. However, the same sources expressed doubts about his commitment to recovery, describing him as capable of appearing cooperative without fully acknowledging an addiction issue.

In a recent interview, LaBeouf downplayed alcohol as the root cause of his behaviour, attributing his actions instead to what he described as a “small man complex.” Reflecting on the incident, he admitted, “It’s not nice to hurt people ever. People got hurt. I got to deal with that.”

The actor’s personal life has also been under strain. He separated from his wife, Mia Goth, last year, with sources claiming she has urged him to seek professional help. Friends and associates reportedly fear that his continued drinking could result in more serious consequences, especially as his future in Hollywood remains uncertain.

LaBeouf is scheduled to return to court on March 19, when further proceedings in the case are expected to take place.
