Pakistan army intensifies border strikes against Afghan Taliban positions

Published on: March 16, 2026 3:49 PM

The Pakistan Army launched a series of decisive strikes against Afghan Taliban positions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, marking a significant escalation in cross-border security operations. According to security officials, the military targeted several militant posts in the Bajaur sector using advanced weapon systems, destroying fortified positions used by insurgent elements operating close to the border region.

According to military sources, the strikes focused on Taliban posts located near the mountainous frontier in Bajaur District, where militants had reportedly established observation points and logistical bases. The army used guided missile systems during the operation, successfully demolishing the targeted sites and disrupting militant infrastructure that had been threatening security forces and nearby civilian populations.

Meanwhile, security authorities confirmed that the broader military campaign, named Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq, will continue until all strategic objectives are fully achieved. Officials emphasized that the operation aims to dismantle militant networks, prevent cross-border infiltration, and restore stability in sensitive border regions that have frequently witnessed insurgent activity.

Furthermore, security forces conducted a separate intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat a day earlier, targeting militants linked to the group known as Fitna-e-Hindustan. During the raid, troops engaged armed fighters and successfully eliminated five militants who were reportedly involved in several terrorist attacks across the region.

Officials also confirmed that troops recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment from militant hideouts during the Lakki Marwat operation. Authorities believe the seized materials were intended for future attacks, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by militant networks attempting to destabilize Pakistan’s western regions.

Security officials reiterated that counterterrorism operations will continue across affected areas to eliminate remaining militant elements and strengthen border security. They stressed that the armed forces remain fully committed to protecting national sovereignty while ensuring long-term peace and stability along Pakistan’s sensitive frontier with Afghanistan.
