Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has stated that even a year after the Pahalgam attack, India has failed to present any credible evidence linking Pakistan to the incident.

Speaking on the first anniversary of the attack, Tarar said that New Delhi has not provided “solid proof or satisfactory explanations” despite repeatedly making allegations. The attack in the disputed Himalayan region of Pahalgam in 2025 resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists, and was one of the deadliest incidents in the area in recent decades.

The minister recalled that Pakistan had offered a neutral and transparent investigation immediately after the incident, but claimed that India rejected the proposal. He argued that this refusal raised serious questions and suggested the possibility of a “false flag operation,” a claim India has consistently denied in past disputes.

Tarar said that accusations were made quickly without proper inquiry or investigation, and questioned how a first information report was registered within minutes of the incident. He added that international observers and analysts had also raised concerns about security arrangements at the site.
He further accused Indian authorities of using the incident for political purposes and said that terrorism is often portrayed externally by India while internal issues are misrepresented internationally. His remarks included criticism of Indian media and institutions, which he claimed were influenced by political narratives.
The minister also reiterated Pakistan’s position that it has itself been a victim of terrorism and has shared evidence of alleged Indian involvement in incidents inside Pakistan with the international community.
Warning against escalation, Tarar stated that any misadventure would be met with a “swift and decisive response,” while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to national defence and regional stability.

The dispute follows a series of diplomatic and military tensions between the two countries, including border closures, suspension of agreements, and retaliatory actions in the aftermath of the 2025 attack.
