FIFA World Cup 2026 final tickets surge to millions on resale market

Published on: April 25, 2026 9:29 AM

Everything You Need to Know About Buying World Cup 2026 Tickets

Ticket prices for the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026 have skyrocketed on resale platforms, with some listings reaching an eye-watering $2.3 million per ticket. The surge reflects unprecedented demand for football’s biggest event, set to conclude on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in the United States.

According to reports, at least four tickets for the final match have been listed at the multi-million-dollar mark, while even the lowest-priced seats are being offered at around $11,000. These cheaper options are located in the upper tiers behind the goal, highlighting how even less desirable seating is commanding premium prices.

Football’s governing body, FIFA, has responded to the situation by clarifying that ticket resales are not restricted. However, it does impose a 15 percent transaction fee on both buyers and sellers in the secondary market. The organization stated that its ticketing model aligns with standard practices across major global sporting and entertainment events.

FIFA emphasized that dynamic pricing and resale mechanisms are designed to reflect market demand and ensure fair value. It added that revenue generated from ticket sales is reinvested into the development of football across its 211 member associations worldwide.

The governing body previously earned approximately $686 million from ticket sales during the 2022 tournament in Qatar. For the 2026 edition, projections suggest total matchday revenue—including tickets and hospitality—could reach as high as $3 billion.

With just weeks remaining until kickoff, interest continues to intensify. The tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is expected to attract record global audiences, further driving demand for its most sought-after fixture—the final.
