The four-day forum, which begins on June 3 in St Petersburg, is regarded as one of Russia’s most significant economic events. It is expected to bring together government officials, business leaders, investors and policymakers from more than 130 countries to discuss global economic trends and future growth prospects.
Pakistan’s delegation will be led by Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) Ali Pervaiz Malik. The delegation also includes Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, senior diplomats and representatives from the country’s trade and investment sectors.
During the forum, participants will engage in discussions on a broad range of topics, including energy security, international trade, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, industrial development, transport infrastructure, food security and global economic cooperation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to address the forum’s main plenary session, alongside senior government officials, corporate executives and representatives of international organisations.
Pakistani officials are expected to hold meetings with Russian authorities, investors and business leaders to explore opportunities for cooperation in energy, petroleum, industry, trade and investment. The visit is being viewed as part of Islamabad’s broader efforts to diversify economic partnerships and attract foreign investment into key sectors of the economy.
Analysts believe participation in international forums such as SPIEF provides Pakistan with valuable opportunities to engage directly with global investors and businesses. Such interactions can help promote exports, encourage investment and strengthen economic collaboration with both Russia and other participating countries.
