Pakistan to unveil budget on June 10

Published on: June 4, 2026 8:37 PM

Pakistan will present the federal budget for fiscal year 2026-27 on June 10, outlining key economic priorities and policy measures. The budget will determine government spending, revenue plans and development strategies for the coming year. Businesses, investors and citizens are closely watching the announcement for measures affecting economic growth and inflation.

Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad confirmed the budget schedule on Thursday. He said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget before the National Assembly. The government will also release the Economic Survey 2025-26 on June 9. The survey will review economic performance during the outgoing fiscal year and provide key indicators.

The federal budget is expected to outline fiscal priorities and policy initiatives for the next financial year. It will serve as the government’s main economic roadmap and guide public spending decisions. Analysts are anticipating measures related to revenue collection, development spending and economic reforms. The budget is also expected to address growth challenges and fiscal management objectives.

Meanwhile, the government continues consultations on major economic targets before the budget announcement. Earlier this week, the National Economic Council postponed a scheduled meeting to allow further discussions. The delay reflects efforts to finalize key economic projections and development plans. Officials are working to ensure consensus on important fiscal and policy matters.

The National Economic Council plays a vital role in the budget process. The constitutional body must approve macroeconomic targets and endorse the Public Sector Development Programme before the budget is unveiled. Its decisions help shape government spending priorities and development initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year.
