Ukraine strikes key Russian military sites

Published on: June 7, 2026 2:59 AM

Ukraine says it has struck several strategic military and logistical facilities inside Russia, including a major oil storage depot in the Krasnodar region and naval infrastructure near St. Petersburg. The attacks are significant because they target fuel supplies and military support facilities used by Russian forces. The strikes could affect Russia’s logistics network and operational capabilities in multiple regions.

According to Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), the operation was conducted jointly with the country’s Defence Forces and military intelligence agencies. Ukrainian officials said the targets included the 15th arsenal of the Russian Navy in the Leningrad region, the Kronstadt naval base, and the Ust-Labinsk oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar region. The operation forms part of Kyiv’s ongoing campaign against Russian military infrastructure far from the front lines.

The SBU stated that a fire broke out at the naval arsenal following the strike and that secondary detonations were reported at the site. Ukrainian officials said the facility stores missiles and other ammunition. Reports circulating on local channels also suggested that residents of nearby settlements were discussing possible evacuations as the situation developed.

Ukraine further claimed that fires were recorded near the Kronstadt naval base and the Kronstadt Marine Plant, facilities linked to the support and maintenance of Russia’s Baltic Fleet. Officials argued that damage to these sites could weaken Russia’s naval capabilities by disrupting ammunition storage, ship repairs, and logistical support operations.

A separate strike targeted the Ust-Labinsk oil depot, which Ukraine described as an important fuel hub for Russian military operations in southern and eastern areas. The SBU said multiple explosions triggered a large fire that engulfed at least three fuel storage tanks. Russian authorities had not immediately commented on the extent of the reported damage, while independent verification of all Ukrainian claims was not immediately available.
