The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered an alleged network involved in issuing Pakistani passport to Afghan nationals using forged documents during a raid in Karachi, officials said on Monday.

According to FIA Counter Terrorism Wing officials, the operation was carried out at a passport office near Awami Centre in the Shahrah-e-Faisal area. During the raid, investigators detained two suspects and seized records believed to be linked to illegal passport issuance activities.
Officials said documentation related to more than 70 suspected foreign nationals was recovered during the operation. Preliminary findings suggest that the individuals involved are Afghan nationals, although authorities have stated that further verification is underway to confirm their identities and backgrounds.

The FIA said the network allegedly used fake identity documents and fraudulent records to facilitate the issuance of Pakistani passports. Investigators are now examining seized materials to trace the wider structure of the operation and identify all individuals involved, including possible facilitators within the system.
Authorities added that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected as evidence is analysed. The agency is also working to determine whether the network is linked to similar cases reported in other parts of the country.
In a separate but related development, officials recently arrested two Afghan nationals in Qambar Shahdadkot district for allegedly attempting to obtain Pakistani passports through fraudulent means. According to the Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the suspects had reportedly infiltrated a local family and obtained Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) using deceptive methods.
Officials also named an alleged local facilitator, identified as Bahram Brohi, who is accused of assisting in the illegal process.

The FIA said these cases highlight ongoing concerns about identity fraud and misuse of documentation systems, adding that efforts are being intensified to prevent illegal passport issuance and strengthen border and identity verification mechanisms.
