Ishaq Dar engages regional leaders at Cairo diplomacy forum

Published on: June 21, 2026 1:24 PM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held important meetings with the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia in Cairo, ahead of the fourth meeting of the R-4 Group. The interactions provided an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties, discuss regional developments, and enhance cooperation on issues of shared interest among key countries of the region.

During his engagements, Ishaq Dar met Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty and thanked him for hosting the visiting delegations in Cairo. He expressed appreciation for Egypt’s warm hospitality and highlighted the importance of continued dialogue among regional partners. The meetings reflected a shared commitment to promoting stability, cooperation, and stronger diplomatic coordination in an increasingly complex international environment.

Dar also held discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. He described the meetings as productive and meaningful, expressing gratitude for the friendship and mutual respect that continue to shape Pakistan’s relations with both countries. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties while exploring opportunities for greater collaboration on regional and global challenges.

Earlier, the deputy prime minister arrived in Cairo to represent Pakistan at the Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Policy Planning, Research, Crisis Management and Assessments, Nazih El Naggary, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Aamir Shouket. The reception underscored the significance attached to Pakistan’s participation in the gathering.

In addition to attending the multilateral forum, Dar is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with fellow foreign ministers on the sidelines of the event. These engagements are aimed at advancing Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, strengthening strategic partnerships, and discussing developments affecting regional peace, security, and economic cooperation.

The fourth meeting of the R-4 Group foreign ministers is expected to focus on regional security, geopolitical developments, and areas of mutual interest among participating nations. Through active participation in the forum, Pakistan seeks to reinforce its commitment to constructive diplomacy and contribute to efforts aimed at promoting stability, dialogue, and cooperation across the wider region.
