Belgium and Iran Play Out Goalless Draw in FIFA World Cup 2026

Published on: June 22, 2026 6:08 AM

Belgium vs Iran

The FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G clash between Belgium and Iran ended in a 0-0 draw after a competitive match at Los Angeles Stadium. Despite several scoring opportunities, neither side was able to find the back of the net, leaving both teams with another share of the points. The Belgium vs Iran World Cup draw kept Group G standings tightly contested.

Iran came close to taking the lead in the first half when a free-kick found its way into Belgium’s goal in the 28th minute. However, the referee ruled the Iranian player offside, and the goal was disallowed after review, keeping the score level.

Belgium enjoyed more possession and created the better chances throughout the match, but Iran’s defense stood firm. Goalkeeper Alireza delivered an outstanding performance and made several crucial saves. One spectacular stop in the second half was widely praised by commentators and described as a potential “save of the tournament.”

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was equally impressive, producing key saves to deny Iran. The match became more challenging for Belgium in the second half when one of their players received a red card for a dangerous foul, forcing the team to play the remainder of the game with ten men.

Despite late efforts from both sides, the match finished without a goal. Following the result, both Belgium and Iran have drawn their first two matches of the tournament and now sit on two points each. The Belgium vs Iran World Cup draw leaves qualification from Group G wide open heading into the next round of fixtures.
