KP CM orders comprehensive Muharram measures across province

Published on: June 24, 2026 8:13 AM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired a meeting to review the security plan for Muharram-ul-Haram and directed authorities to ensure comprehensive arrangements for maintaining peace and protecting citizens across the province.

According to a statement issued from the CM House here, police officials gave a detailed briefing on security preparations before, during and after Muharram.

The meeting was informed that 43,317 police personnel will be deployed across the province during Muharram, while comprehensive district-level security plans have been prepared and command and control centres activated. Special security arrangements have been made for 614 Imambargahs and 907 processions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials informed the meeting that eight districts have been declared highly sensitive and six districts sensitive for Muharram. Law and order will be ensured through the use of modern technology, Safe City cameras, police patrolling, snap checking and social media monitoring.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Afridi directed authorities to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property under all circumstances. He also instructed officials to pay special attention to the welfare and well-being of police personnel deployed on Muharram duty.
