Trump denies funds released, confirms Iran shipping terms

Published on: June 24, 2026 8:14 PM

United States President Donald Trump has denied reports that Washington released frozen Iranian funds, stating that no financial transfers were made to Tehran under ongoing negotiations. He said such claims were incorrect and warned that misinformation could seriously disrupt diplomatic talks between the two countries as discussions continue over a broader regional understanding.

At the same time, Trump said Iran had confirmed that it would not impose tolls, insurance charges or additional fees on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He described the update as an important development for global shipping stability and said it helped reduce concerns over rising maritime trade costs.

Furthermore, the US president stated that some Iranian funds currently under American control would not be directly released but instead used for structured purchases. He explained that these resources would support the buying of American agricultural goods for delivery to Iran under monitored arrangements.

In addition, Trump said the planned purchases would include essential food items such as corn, wheat and other farm products sourced from US farmers. He emphasized that the arrangement would help meet urgent food needs in Iran while also supporting domestic American agricultural producers through controlled exports.

Moreover, he warned that the continuation of negotiations depends heavily on accuracy in reporting and responsible communication from all sides. He stressed that any false claims regarding financial transfers or sanctions relief could lead to an immediate pause in diplomatic engagement.

Meanwhile, Trump reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global trade route and said any agreement preventing new charges on shipping would contribute to international economic stability. He added that the United States remains focused on balancing economic interests with broader security and diplomatic objectives.
