Iran warned on Tuesday that it would respond decisively to any United States violation of the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the Middle East war. The warning came as Iranian and US delegations were expected in Qatar for indirect discussions on implementing the agreement. The statement underscores the fragile nature of the emerging diplomatic process.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran would not leave any hostile action unanswered. Speaking at a weekly news conference, he said the country’s armed forces had demonstrated their ability to respond immediately and decisively to any aggression against the Islamic Republic’s interests.
Baqaei said any such action would constitute a violation of Article 1 of the memorandum of understanding. He warned that repeated breaches would make it increasingly difficult to continue the implementation process. His remarks reflected Tehran’s insistence that both sides fully adhere to the agreement.
The comments came as delegations from Iran and the United States were expected in Doha for indirect talks focused on the memorandum. The discussions are intended to address the implementation of the agreement and reduce tensions following months of conflict and diplomatic disputes.
The latest warning highlights the challenges facing efforts to maintain the agreement and advance broader negotiations. Both sides continue to stress the importance of compliance as international mediators seek to preserve momentum toward a lasting regional settlement.
