Pakistan Navy locates missing cargo aircraft

Published on: July 8, 2026 7:27 PM

Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) have located the wreckage of the missing K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo aircraft during a joint search and rescue operation. The discovery followed an intensive 12-hour operation in the Arabian Sea. Authorities have launched further investigations to determine the cause of the incident.

According to an official statement, the aircraft went missing on Tuesday night before a coordinated search mission was launched by the Pakistan Navy and PMSA. Rescue teams successfully identified the wreckage approximately 53 nautical miles south of Ormara after conducting extensive aerial and maritime search operations.

Officials confirmed that the wreckage has been positively identified, marking a significant breakthrough in the search effort. Relevant authorities have now taken over the site to carry out technical investigations and other required procedures. No further details regarding the aircraft’s crew or cargo were immediately released.

The joint operation demonstrated close coordination between Pakistan’s maritime security agencies in responding to aviation emergencies at sea. Search teams used specialised resources throughout the operation to locate the aircraft in deep waters despite challenging conditions.

Authorities said the investigation will focus on determining the circumstances surrounding the aircraft’s disappearance. Further updates are expected as investigators examine the recovered wreckage and gather additional evidence related to the crash.
