Marvel actress Wai Ching Ho, who appeared in Iron Fist and Daredevil, dies  aged 82 - CNA Lifestyle

Veteran actress Wai Ching Ho, widely recognized for portraying the formidable Madame Gao in Marvel’s Daredevil series, has passed away at the age of 82. Her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans, who remembered her remarkable talent and lasting contributions to film and television.

The news of her passing was shared by several former co-stars on social media. Actor Peter Shinkoda paid tribute to Ho, recalling the wisdom and kindness she brought both on and off the set. He described her as an inspiring colleague whose guidance left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her.

Actor Perry Yung later confirmed that Ho passed away peacefully following a stroke. He remembered her as a compassionate individual whose professionalism and artistic dedication elevated every production she joined. His message reflected the deep respect she earned throughout her decades-long career in the entertainment industry.

Born in Hong Kong in 1943, Wai Ching Ho began her acting career in the early 1980s before establishing herself as a familiar face in American television and cinema. Over the years, she appeared in numerous acclaimed productions, including Law & Order, Fresh Off the Boat, Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens, Hustlers, and Pixar’s animated film Turning Red.

Her portrayal of Madame Gao across Marvel’s Daredevil, Iron Fist and The Defenders remains one of her most memorable performances. The mysterious and influential character became a fan favorite, earning Ho widespread recognition among audiences around the world.

Throughout her career, Ho was admired for bringing depth, authenticity and quiet strength to every role she performed. Her performances helped pave the way for greater representation of Asian actors in international film and television.
