US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States will reinstate its naval blockade targeting Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz. He said international shipping through the strategic waterway would remain open despite the renewed measures. The announcement marks another escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain accessible “with or without Iran.” He said the United States would continue to ensure freedom of navigation through one of the world’s busiest energy corridors. Trump maintained that commercial shipping by other countries would not be affected.

According to Trump, the renewed naval blockade will apply only to Iranian vessels and ships engaged in trade with Iran. He said all other nations would continue to enjoy unrestricted access to the Strait of Hormuz. The administration presented the move as part of broader efforts to protect international maritime trade.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global shipping route through which a large share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes. Any military or economic action involving the waterway is closely monitored by governments and financial markets because of its potential impact on global energy supplies and shipping.
