Bangkok bar fire death toll reaches 30

Published on: July 14, 2026 9:43 PM

The death toll from a devastating fire at a Bangkok bar has climbed to 30 as grieving families collected the bodies of their loved ones. The blaze also left 75 people injured, including 24 in critical condition, increasing concerns over the scale of the tragedy. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the deadly fire.

The fire erupted late Sunday night at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar and restaurant in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district during a live music performance. Witnesses said smoke appeared inside the venue before midnight, followed by a power outage, an explosion and rapidly spreading flames that forced terrified customers to escape.

Several victims were unable to flee and died from smoke inhalation, while others suffered serious injuries. Families gathered at Police General Hospital on Tuesday to identify and receive the bodies, with emotional scenes as coffins were prepared for transportation to victims’ home provinces.

Relatives described their loved ones as joyful and caring individuals while struggling to accept their sudden deaths. Meanwhile, some families continued searching for missing relatives, holding onto hope as police conducted DNA tests to confirm the identities of unidentified victims.

Forensic teams are examining the blackened remains of the bar to uncover how the tragedy occurred. Investigators are looking into possible electrical failures and whether blocked emergency exits contributed to the high number of casualties, while survivors and relatives visited the site to offer prayers and pay tribute.
