World Bank mission reviews progress on SRMP project

A World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards Mission visited the Social Resettlement and Management Plan (SRMP) project being implemented by the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in collaboration with the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) to assess the progress and impact of ongoing interventions.

According to SRSO Spokesperson here on Tuesday, the visit began with a detailed presentation by SIDA officials, who briefed the delegation on the overall implementation status of the SRMP. The SRSO Regional team also presented an overview of the project’s achievements, highlighting key milestones and community-level outcomes.

During a field visit to Village Punho Qambrani, Union Council Seri, the World Bank delegation met women entrepreneurs who shared their experiences of increased household income and economic empowerment achieved through SRSO’s livelihood support initiatives.

The delegation also inspected climate resilient houses, solar energy systems, and kitchen gardens established under the project. The team observed notable improvements in living standards, environmental sustainability, and the resilience of beneficiary families. At the conclusion of the visit, the World Bank delegation and SIDA officials appreciated SRSO’s efforts in successfully implementing the project and acknowledged its significant contribution to promoting sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic development in the project communities.
