Report Claims Trump Is Considering Sending Ground Troops to Iran

Published on: July 16, 2026 5:27 AM

US Ground Troops in Iran

US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering the deployment of American ground troops to Iran, according to a report by a US newspaper. The US Ground Troops in Iran proposal is said to include the possibility of taking control of Iranian islands near the Strait of Hormuz, although no official decision has been announced.

The report, citing US officials, claims that President Trump is reviewing military options that could involve sending ground forces to strategic islands close to the Strait of Hormuz. The White House has not officially confirmed the report.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iran would be defeated soon and claimed that Tehran wants to hold talks and reach an agreement. He added that the United States would decide whether or not to move forward with a deal based on future developments.

When asked about a possible deadline for strikes on Iranian bridges, Trump said he does not like setting deadlines. He also stated that Iran should change its behavior and that its leadership understands the current situation.

Meanwhile, US Central Command confirmed fresh military strikes against Iran, saying the operation targeted military capabilities that posed a threat to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Ahvaz, Chabahar, and Bandar Abbas, claiming that seven Iranian soldiers and 30 civilians were killed in the latest attacks. The US Ground Troops in Iran report has further increased concerns over rising tensions in the region.
