Emma Roberts has shared an emotional update about Disney+’s upcoming Aquamarine spinoff, revealing that reading the pilot script brought back powerful memories from the original film. Nearly two decades after the movie became a fan favorite, Roberts said the project reminded her of how meaningful the story has remained for audiences over the years.

The actor confirmed she will return as Claire, this time portraying the character as an adult in the new series. Roberts said she was surprised by her emotional reaction to the script, explaining that she became choked up and even teary-eyed because she did not expect the story to have such a personal impact after so many years.

Meanwhile, the new series also reunites the franchise with original director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, while Roberts will serve as an executive producer alongside her acting role. The project aims to continue the story for longtime fans while introducing the magical world of Aquamarine to a new generation of viewers.

Although the return of original cast members Sara Paxton and Joanna “JoJo” Levesque has not been confirmed, JoJo recently revealed that early discussions about possible involvement have taken place. However, no official announcement has been made regarding whether they will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series.

Reflecting on the original production, Roberts said the cast never imagined the film would leave such a lasting impression after being made by a group of young actors in Australia. She also hopes her five-year-old son will enjoy watching the new series, making the upcoming revival a meaningful experience for both longtime fans and younger audiences.
