Published on: July 19, 2026 1:20 PM

Russia has said Ukraine launched one of its largest overnight drone attacks, with air defence systems intercepting and destroying 379 drones across multiple regions. Russian authorities reported that the attacks killed eight people and injured 86 others, while emergency teams continued rescue and recovery operations in the affected areas.

Moreover, the Russian Defence Ministry said the drones targeted regions including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Smolensk, Ryazan, Tula, Tambov, Voronezh, Rostov, Leningrad, Vladimir, the Moscow region, Krasnodar, occupied Crimea, as well as the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that nearly 370 drones headed toward the Moscow region were intercepted before reaching their intended targets.

Meanwhile, one of the deadliest strikes hit a Wildberries logistics centre in the Tambov region, where seven people lost their lives and 25 others were injured. Regional authorities said 22 victims required hospital treatment, including eight in critical condition, while firefighters later brought the warehouse blaze under control.

Furthermore, drone attacks also struck Noginsk and Elektrostal in the Moscow region, where fires broke out at an oil storage facility and another logistics warehouse. Officials evacuated 22 women and seven newborn babies from a nearby maternity hospital as a precaution, while one injured victim later died in hospital, raising the regional death toll to one and the number of injured to 61.

Russian authorities said investigators had opened terrorism cases following the attacks on the logistics centres, while officials accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. In addition, a drone strike damaged an energy facility in the Kursk region, leaving more than 46,000 consumers without electricity, as emergency crews continued damage assessments and restoration work across multiple regions.
