The Colombian singer delivered the official 2026 World Cup anthem, Dai Dai, alongside Burna Boy during halftime of Spain’s victory over Argentina at MetLife Stadium.

The performance also featured dancers and children from Triplets Ghetto Kids, an organisation that supports disadvantaged and orphaned children through music, dance, and drama. After the show, Shakira thanked Burna Boy, the young performers, her production team, and supporters, saying the historic event would remain one of the most meaningful moments of her career.
Shakira also celebrated Spain’s World Cup triumph by congratulating the team and expressing pride in her connection with the country through music. In addition, she paid tribute to Argentina and captain Lionel Messi, praising his achievements and thanking him for representing the Latino community with distinction throughout the tournament.

The halftime production, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, featured performances by Shakira, Madonna, Justin Bieber, and BTS during an 11-minute musical show. However, the overall halftime break extended to more than 27 minutes, significantly longer than the International Football Association Board’s recommended maximum of 15 minutes.
The extended break sparked debate across social media, with many football supporters arguing that the added entertainment disrupted the traditional rhythm of the World Cup final.
