Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability during a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Islamabad on Tuesday. The talks focused on bilateral ties and rising Gulf tensions.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz welcomed the Iranian delegation and discussed recent regional developments. The meeting was attended by senior federal ministers and government officials.

The prime minister expressed concern over the recent escalation in the Gulf region and urged all parties to exercise restraint. He said Pakistan would continue supporting efforts to maintain peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz recalled his recent visit to Tehran to attend the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. He conveyed his greetings to Iran’s leadership during the meeting.
Additionally, the Iranian interior minister thanked Pakistan for its role in promoting dialogue between regional stakeholders. Momeni appreciated the mediation efforts of Shehbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Momeni said his visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran as neighboring countries. He also highlighted the importance of continued engagement to address shared challenges.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region and growing calls for diplomatic solutions. Pakistan has reiterated its willingness to facilitate dialogue and support regional stability.
