SC rejects Shahid Masood’s apology in Zainab murder case controversy

Published on: March 7, 2018 1:23 PM

Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar refused to accept an apology from Dr. Shahid Masood for misleading the Court by leveling allegations against the convicted rapist and murderer of six-year-old Zainab.

The anchorperson in his show had claimed that the convict Imran Ali was a member of a pornography gang which also has a connection with a Punjab minister. Also, Masood had told the court that the suspect has 37 bank accounts including foreign currency accounts.

Chief Justice remarked while addressing Dr. Shahid Masood that the time for an apology has passed now, you should contest your case.

Dr. Shahid Masood said I can take my case back, to which Chief Justice replied that this case will be decided on merit and justice will be seen to be done.

Chief Justice further said i have seen the video of your program time and again in which you repeated your demand to take suo moto action in the case, you also asked to be hanged if your allegations are proven wrong. JIT has denied your allegations.

The court provided the copy of the JIT report to Dr. Shahid Masood’s counsel and adjourned the hearing till Monday.
