Release Nawaz Sharif for Pakistan’s survival, says Saad Rafique

Published on: September 8, 2018 5:38 PM

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawja Saad Rafique on Friday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be released from jail to prevent the country from anarchy.

The former premier and his daughter are currently in Adiala jail after being convicted in the Avenfield properties reference.

While addressing a gathering here, the former Railways minister said that Pakistan should not be taken towards anarchy. “For Pakistan’s survival, Nawaz should be freed from jail,” he said.

Lambasting Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PML-N leader said that a person with no mandate had been made the prime minister. “We can also stage protest but we gave respect to the polls even though they were not free and fair,” Rafique said.

He also citicised the performance of the new government saying it has been 22 days to the “Naya Pakistan’ but the government could not take a single concrete step.

Saad Radique lost to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on NA-131 Lahore seat in July 25 general elections.
